According to legend, Rasputin was still alive, despite being poisoned and<br />

severely shot, and the conspirators heavily clubbed him, wrapped his body<br />

in a sheet, and threw him into the icy Neva River. When his body was found<br />

three days later, water was found in the lungs, supporting the legend that<br />

he was still alive after submerging through the ice into the Neva River.<br />

Option #1: (historical choice) Rasputin finally assassinated – Negative<br />

effects of Rasputin's presence have been finally deleted.<br />

Economic Growth<br />

Description: This event will bring some key improvements in your nation’s<br />

economy.<br />

Historical notes: World War One was a war for economical dominance in<br />

the world. As Vladimir Lenin summarized works of Marx and Hobson, the<br />

dominant economic position of Great Britain was threatened by the rapidly<br />

increasing German industry. He concluded that the imperialism was<br />

responsible for the war, because of the competition for expanding markets.<br />

Given that all nations committed all their economical resources to the total<br />

war, the battle for economic growth could decide the war.<br />

Difficulty: die roll 2+.<br />

Enter in play: Events phase, any turn.<br />

Option #1: (historical choice) Economic bonus – The treasury of the target<br />

nation receives 20 EPs and the Civil Production level is shifted by 1 point<br />

towards the War-Economy.<br />

Notes: once successfully in play, this event is discarded and can later be<br />

reshuffled in the deck.<br />

Reshuffle<br />

Description: This event will make the events deck reshuffled back. In such<br />

a way, a lot of secret events previously enacted, will so come back ready<br />

to be played!<br />

Historical notes: The First World War is full of mysterious stories and<br />

unexplained events. A lot of things happened, or are supposed to have<br />

occurred, but there are sometimes no evidence to be found. Sometimes<br />

men or material even simply vanished without trace.<br />

Difficulty: die roll 5+.<br />

Enter in play: Events phase, any turn.<br />

Option #1: (historical choice) Reshuffle events – All not-mandatory events<br />

are going to be reshuffled.<br />

Notes: once successfully in play, this event is discarded and can later be<br />

Scandal<br />

Description: This event will make an enemy leader, chosen at random, will<br />

be removed from his offices, as a consequence of a scandal!<br />

Historical notes: One of your leaders has spent more time in night clubs<br />

than on in headquarters lately. Rumors have spread that one of the many<br />

women visiting him for the night took important plans with her. For our<br />

nation’s safety, we have to dismiss him.<br />

Difficulty: die roll 2+.<br />

Option #1: (historical choice) A leader involved in a scandal – A leader<br />

(chosen at random) has been fired because of his involvement in an<br />

infamous scandal.<br />

Notes: once successfully in play, this event is discarded and can later be<br />

reshuffled in the deck.<br />

Polivanov sacked<br />

Description: This event will remove all benefits coming from Polivanov<br />

ministry in Russia.<br />

Historical notes: Alexei Polivanov was a Russian infantry general who was<br />

appointed Minister of War in June 1915. When he became aware that Czar<br />

Nicholas II intended to personally lead his army at the front, he tried to<br />

persuade him not to. This helped the Czarina to plan a conspiracy against<br />

him which finally led to his dismissal by Czar Nicholas II in March 1916.<br />

Conditions: the event [stratagem] “Polivanov” must be in play.<br />

Difficulty: die roll 5+.<br />

Modifiers: +1 if event “Rasputin” has occurred, -1 if the event “Rasputin<br />

assassinated” has occurred, +1 if a German major city is under Russian<br />

control, +1 if a Russian major city is under German control, +1 if a Russian<br />

major city is under Austrian control (cumulative with the previous one).<br />

Option #1: (historical choice) Minister Polivanov sacked – All benefits<br />

coming from Polivanov ministry are lost for Russia.<br />

Notes: once successfully in play, the event is discarded and cannot occur<br />
