End of the Third Boer War<br />
Description: This event will remove all negative effects brought in play by<br />
the Second Boer War.<br />
Historical notes: Before the rebellion could inflame the whole country, Louis<br />
Botha sent the troops intended to occupy German South-West Africa to<br />
crush the uprising. The coup was aborted quickly after several leaders<br />
where killed by troops.<br />
Conditions: the “Third Boer War” event has occurred.<br />

Option #1: (historical choice) Boer agitation in South Africa ended – Boer<br />
rebellions in South Africa have been crushed: Great Britain may free the<br />
garrisoning Corps that may have been sent to South-Africa.<br />

American-Mexican War<br />
Description: This event will make Mexico declare war on the USA!<br />
Historical notes: On January, 16th, 1917, Arthur Zimmermann, Foreign<br />
Secretary of the German Empire, sent a coded telegram to the German<br />
Ambassador of the U.S. which was henceforth forwarded to the German<br />
Ambassador of Mexico. The telegram was sent in the anticipation the<br />
resumption of unrestricted submarine warfare, which would cause the U.S.<br />
to enter the war. In the telegram a military alliance between Germany and<br />
Mexico was suggested, offering material help to Mexico in the reclaiming<br />
territories lost during the Mexican-American War. The Zimmermann<br />
telegram was intercepted and decoded by the British intelligence of Room<br />

40. Its content raised anti-German sentiments within the American society,<br />
while the Mexican government officially rejected the German offer.<br />

level of USA is 5 or less (cumulative with the previous one)<br />

level of USA is shifted by 3 points towards the Central Powers. All nations<br />
at war on the side of Central Powers gain 1 NW point.<br />

Rasputin<br />
Description: The presence of Rasputin at the court of Czar Nicholas II will<br />
bring a lot of negative effects on Russia.<br />
Historical notes: Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin, often called the “Mad Monk”,<br />
was a Russian mystic and was believed to be a psychic and faith healer.<br />
He was perceived as having great influence on the Russian Czar Nicholas<br />
II, his wife the Czaritsa Alexandra, and their son the Czarevich Alexei.<br />
Rasputin might have helped to discredit the tsarist government, which led<br />
to the fall of the Romanov dynasty in 1917. However, contemporary<br />
opinions consider him as being just a religious charlatan. Given that most<br />
of the sources are just dubious memoirs, hearsay, and legend, there is<br />
much uncertainty concerning the life of the “Mad Monk”.<br />

Description: This event will remove all the negative effects of Rasputin!<br />
Historical notes: Since Rasputin’s influence on the Czaritsa made him a<br />
dangerous threat to the empire, a group of nobles decided that it would be<br />
the best to remove him. They invited Rasputin for meal to the Yusupovs’<br />
