Wiggling<br />
with master Primes<br />
The New York Times called THE WIGGLES<br />
“The band that rocks the cradle!” and with<br />
over 23 million sales of their DVD’s they<br />
are a phenomenon. I’ve been THE WIGGLES<br />
Director of Photography for over fifteen<br />
years and just as they have evolved with<br />
their productions, I too have progressed. I<br />
started shooting the guys with SP betacam,<br />
moved to digital betacam and currently<br />
shoot High Definition. While I’m pleased to<br />
see the progress of various formats, it is<br />

Close Focus on Red Apple<br />
Red Apple Camera Rentals in Sydney<br />
purchased the 100mm Master Macro from<br />
ARRI Australia in December last year. The<br />
company has now acquired all 15 Master<br />
Prime lenses, completing the set available<br />
from ARRI.<br />
“The 100mm Master Macro is an amazing<br />
lens, its quality surpasses that of any other<br />
macro lens in the market today,” says Viv<br />
Scanu, DoP and owner of Red Apple<br />
Camera Rentals. “It’s super sharp with<br />
beautiful focus drop off. The images are<br />
vibrant and contrasty, perfect for not only<br />
macro work but also conventional photography,<br />
I really love shooting with it.” The<br />
secondary to the glass that I put in front of<br />
the camera. Along with these formats, comes<br />
a progression of lenses I have used; from<br />
Standard Definition to High Definition and<br />
now 35mm Master Primes.<br />
The most recent WIGGLES production is<br />
DOROTHY THE DINOSAUR's third TV series,<br />
which I used the Master Primes on. THE<br />
WIGGLES Director, Paul Field said, “How<br />
can I go back to any other lenses after<br />
using the Master Primes? They’ve taken our<br />
production to a new level.” His view is<br />
shared by so many of my clients in the<br />
commercial and corporate world.<br />
After twenty-five years in this industry, I am<br />
finally able to use lenses that are incomparable.<br />
Working at T1.3 enables me to put<br />
the viewer’s eyes exactly where I want them,<br />
whether I shoot digital or film.<br />
100mm Master Macro has proven to be<br />
popular amongst Red Apple’s many lenses.<br />
It has been used on a number of table top<br />
shoots, some of which include high profile<br />
brands such as “McDonald’s” (DoP Danny<br />
Pope, ACS) and “Golden Circle”.<br />
Red Apple has an extensive range of ARRI<br />
film cameras and single sensor digital<br />
cameras, the 100mm Master Macro crosses<br />
paths seamlessly and is used on both<br />
formats, delivering breathtaking images.<br />
“We are now waiting for the next generation<br />
of ARRI digital cameras to be included in<br />
our inventory”, says Scanu, “we can’t wait.”<br />

Borće Damćevski, DoP and<br />
owner of “8 Days A Week<br />
Productions” in Sydney and<br />
ARRI Australia have a vivid,<br />
long term relationship.<br />
In August 2009 Borće took<br />
delivery of his Master Prime<br />
set of eight lenses including<br />
the 100mm Master Macro,<br />
which he then completed by<br />
another Master Prime and a<br />
Lightweight Zoom LWZ-1 in<br />
November 2009.
