3.3.4.1.6 Heterogeneous membership<br />

Those <strong>in</strong>ternational organizations, which have mixed members: governmental,<br />

non-governmental, or bus<strong>in</strong>ess organizations may be members <strong>of</strong> such organization. These<br />

members may come from <strong>in</strong>ternational, national or <strong>in</strong>dividual level. Examples,<br />

International Institute <strong>of</strong> Adm<strong>in</strong>istrative Sciences (<strong>in</strong>cludes: governments, national <strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>ternational types, corporate bodies <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>dividuals); International Council <strong>of</strong> Scientific Unions<br />

(<strong>in</strong>cludes: scientific academies, national research councils, associations <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>stitutions,<br />

governments <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>ternational scientific unions).<br />

3.3.4.1.7 Complex character<br />

Such types <strong>of</strong> organizations present complex structures, which evolve when conventional INGOs<br />

or IGOs become members <strong>of</strong> an INGO or <strong>of</strong> an <strong>in</strong>ter-governmental body. Conference <strong>of</strong> World<br />

Organizations <strong>in</strong>terested <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> H<strong>and</strong>icapped, Council for International Organizations <strong>of</strong> Medical<br />

Sciences <strong>and</strong> Conference <strong>of</strong> NGOs <strong>in</strong> Consultative Status with UN ECOSOC are examples <strong>of</strong><br />

organizations, which are complex <strong>in</strong> character.<br />

3.3.4.1.8 M<strong>in</strong>imal structure<br />

Unlike conventional IGOs <strong>and</strong> INGOs <strong>the</strong>se <strong>in</strong>ternational organizations have m<strong>in</strong>imal structure<br />

but usually <strong>the</strong>se organizations do not considered as IGOs or INGOs. Example, United Nations<br />

University, UNISIST, World Science Information System, G7, G77, G8 or G20<br />

3.3.4.1.9 Multi-national structure<br />

These are formal organizations with<strong>in</strong> a number <strong>of</strong> <strong>countries</strong> simply recognize each o<strong>the</strong>rs'<br />

existence <strong>and</strong> engage <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>formal exchanges, possibly lead<strong>in</strong>g to a harmonization <strong>of</strong> policies or<br />

various forms <strong>of</strong> jo<strong>in</strong>t actions.
