Conventional <strong>in</strong>ternational organization (IGO, INGO, Mult<strong>in</strong>ational enterprise) with a blend <strong>of</strong><br />

two or more organizational characters are called hybrid organization, i.e. Inter-governmental<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>it-mak<strong>in</strong>g corporations, International pr<strong>of</strong>it-mak<strong>in</strong>g corporations l<strong>in</strong>ked to<br />

<strong>in</strong>ter-governmental organizations, Mult<strong>in</strong>ational corporations with major governmental<br />

shareholders, International non-pr<strong>of</strong>it body created by mult<strong>in</strong>ational enterprises, International<br />

non-pr<strong>of</strong>it bodies created by <strong>in</strong>ter-governmental organizations<br />

3.3.4.1.2 Dependent character<br />

The organizations <strong>in</strong> this group are dist<strong>in</strong>guished by various k<strong>in</strong>ds <strong>of</strong> dependence on parent<br />

organization: <strong>the</strong> existence <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> dependent organization is l<strong>in</strong>ked with <strong>the</strong> survival <strong>of</strong> parent<br />

organization; <strong>the</strong> policies, actions <strong>and</strong> character <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> dependent organization is orig<strong>in</strong>ate from<br />

<strong>the</strong> parent body <strong>and</strong> dependent organization may act to achieve <strong>the</strong> parent body purpose i.e.<br />

Support<strong>in</strong>g bodies, Staff association, Consultative bodies, Pressure groups, Opposition bodies<br />

etc.<br />

3.3.4.1.3 Semi-autonomous character<br />

The organization <strong>in</strong> this category enjoys some degree <strong>of</strong> autonomy despite closely l<strong>in</strong>ked with a<br />

particular <strong>in</strong>ter-governmental body or parent organization. Such character is more common with<br />

<strong>in</strong>ter-governmental bodies. For example, World Food Program, World Food Council <strong>and</strong><br />

Inter-governmental Oceanographic Commission<br />

3.3.4.1.4 Relationship to leadership<br />

Under this head<strong>in</strong>g all those organizations are grouped, which are characterized by <strong>the</strong> particular<br />

character <strong>of</strong> leadership or higher authority. Chartered bodies <strong>of</strong> religious authorities, Royal<br />

societies <strong>in</strong> UK or Religious order<br />

3.3.4.1.5 Region based group<strong>in</strong>gs<br />

Regional group<strong>in</strong>gs are evident <strong>in</strong> those <strong>in</strong>ternational organizations, which have a large array <strong>of</strong><br />

members from several cont<strong>in</strong>ents. In such organizations members are clustered <strong>in</strong>to regional or<br />

sub-regional groups <strong>in</strong> order to have an effective management, communication, network<strong>in</strong>g,<br />

<strong>in</strong>teraction, efficiency <strong>and</strong> sett<strong>in</strong>g as well as achievement <strong>of</strong> objectives. Regional <strong>of</strong>fices <strong>of</strong> UN<br />

agencies <strong>and</strong> <strong>Asian</strong> Football Confederation are <strong>the</strong> example <strong>of</strong> region base group<strong>in</strong>g.
