On <strong>the</strong> vice-chair table six <strong>Asian</strong> <strong>countries</strong>, India, Indonesia, Korea, Japan <strong>and</strong> S<strong>in</strong>gapore, have<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir presence. India, Indonesia <strong>and</strong> S<strong>in</strong>gapore each holds one vice-chair, Israel vice-chairs two<br />

bodies, Korea seventeen <strong>and</strong> Japan fifty two but among <strong>the</strong>se bodies only one body <strong>the</strong><br />

“Work<strong>in</strong>g Party on Indicators <strong>of</strong> Educational Systems” is for <strong>education</strong>. Whereas UK <strong>and</strong> USA<br />

have twenty <strong>and</strong> sixty two vice-chairs positions respectively <strong>of</strong> OECD bodies.<br />

Fur<strong>the</strong>rmore <strong>the</strong> participat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>countries</strong> may have <strong>the</strong> status as member, full participant or<br />

observer. Four <strong>Asian</strong> <strong>countries</strong> participate <strong>in</strong> OECD bodies as members: Israel, Korea, Japan <strong>and</strong><br />

Turkey; eight <strong>countries</strong> as “full participants” <strong>and</strong> eight as observer. India, Indonesia, Ch<strong>in</strong>a,<br />

Malaysia, S<strong>in</strong>gapore <strong>and</strong> Vietnam have accession to some committees as full participants <strong>and</strong> for<br />

some as only observes. Turkey is <strong>the</strong> only OECD member country with a status <strong>of</strong> an observer<br />

which is not a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> DAC Work<strong>in</strong>g Party on Aid Effectiveness.
