S<strong>in</strong>ce its <strong>in</strong>ception IIEP is actively follow<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> aims <strong>and</strong> objectives <strong>of</strong> its creation. Dur<strong>in</strong>g this<br />

period it has made many achievements, few <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m are as follow:<br />

1965 – The first Annual Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g Program;<br />

1967 – „Fundamentals <strong>of</strong> Education Plann<strong>in</strong>g‟ series launched;<br />

1973 – IIEP moves new permanent headquarters <strong>and</strong> launches first medium-term plan;<br />

1981 – First newsletter published;<br />

1982 – Creation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> International Work<strong>in</strong>g Group on Education (IWGE);<br />

1989 – Establishment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> network <strong>of</strong> IIEP depository libraries;<br />

1992 – IIEP hosts Association for <strong>the</strong> Development <strong>of</strong> Education <strong>in</strong> Africa (ADEA);<br />

1993 – IIEP formally launches operational activities;<br />

1995 – Establishment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> SACMEQ 17 <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> ANTRIEP 18 ;<br />

1997 – Creation <strong>of</strong> IIEP Buenos Aires branch;<br />

2002 – IIEP launches a Master‟s <strong>in</strong> Educational Plann<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> Management.<br />

5.1.1.8 UNESCO <strong>and</strong> its partners<br />

Work<strong>in</strong>g on global level with different states that represent diverse cultures <strong>and</strong> systems is a big<br />

challenge not only for UNESCO but any IGO. To overcome this problem UNESCO give due<br />

importance to partnerships <strong>and</strong> alliances amongst stakeholders. Such partnerships are based on<br />

mutual <strong>in</strong>terest, credibility <strong>and</strong> shared responsibility. UNESCO has more than 105 partner<br />

organization around <strong>the</strong> world that ranges from student organizations to IGOs (UNESCO, 2011).<br />

These partner organizations can be classified <strong>in</strong>to four major groups:<br />

5.1.1.8.1 Inter-governmental organizations (IGOs)<br />

1. African, Caribbean <strong>and</strong> Pacific Group <strong>of</strong> States<br />

2. Arab Bureau <strong>of</strong> Education for <strong>the</strong> Gulf States<br />

3. Arab Organization for Agricultural Development<br />

4. <strong>Asian</strong> Development Bank<br />

5. African Development Bank<br />

6. Caribbean Community Secretariat<br />
