FIBER PREPARATION SYSTEMS DIVISION<br />
> The Fiber Preparation Systems Division<br />
is a global supplier of systems, processes,<br />
and equipment for the provision of<br />
fiber for all papermaking processes such<br />
as recycled fiber processing, fiber stock<br />
preparation, paper machine approach<br />
systems, broke handling, sludge and<br />
reject handling, and internal water loop<br />
handling in the paper mill.<br />
The Division has its headquarters in<br />
Graz, Austria and Kotka, Finland with<br />
significant operations in China and the<br />
USA.<br />
Business development<br />
Business of the Division developed very favorably<br />
in <strong>2004</strong>. The most active markets for the Division’s<br />
products were in Central Europe and China.<br />
The majority of the systems and equipment<br />
ordered by customers in 2003 were started up<br />
successfully in <strong>2004</strong>. This includes the stock preparation<br />
system for Jian Hui Paper Co. in China and<br />
the 400 t/d deinking line at Vipap Videm Krško in<br />
Slovenia. FS-Karton of Germany has also taken a<br />
new 200 t/d deinking line into daily operation. The<br />
line provides furnish for the top layer of a multi-ply<br />
board grade. A complete new OCC line at Cartiera<br />
del Polesine in Italy was successfully started.<br />
Also of note are two Chinese start-ups: a complete<br />
new deinking line for newsprint production at<br />
Nanping Paper; and a complete stock preparation<br />
system for Yanzhou Tian Yuan Paper (Sun Paper),<br />

which includes newly developed FibreSolve<br />
pulpers and Papillon LC refiners.<br />
The rebuild of a deinking line for P.T. Aspex of<br />
Indonesia was completed. The project included<br />
the start-up of a new SelectaFlot flotation deinking<br />
system.<br />
Major orders<br />
Holmen Paper Peninsular of Spain, UPM-<br />
Kymmene of Finland, and Shandong Huatai<br />
of China ordered key equipment for their new<br />
newsprint machines, including the market leading<br />
FibreFlow ® Drum pulper and Andritz dewatering<br />
presses for pulp and sludge.<br />
Perlen Papier, Switzerland, awarded the Division<br />
an order for a major upgrade of an existing<br />
DIP line, including SelectaFlot flotation and<br />
ModuScreen screening systems.<br />
The strong market position of the FibreFlow ®<br />
Drum was underscored by additional orders<br />
from the USA at SP Newsprint and American<br />
Fiber Resources. In addition, the Division<br />
received orders for FibreFlow ® Drums to be<br />
delivered to Korea and Finland.<br />
Also in the USA, World Waste Technologies<br />
will install a unique and patented system to<br />
recover aluminum, plastics, and cellulose<br />
fiber from municipal solid waste. World Waste<br />
Technologies selected the Division to provide<br />
the major components for their recycled fiberline<br />
at the facility.<br />
