He married Feb. 2, 1745, Martha, daughter <strong>of</strong> Timothy<br />

Crocker, Esq., <strong>of</strong> <strong>Barnstable</strong>. She died Dec. 2, 1772, aged 67.<br />

Children horn in <strong>Barnstable</strong>.<br />

1, Mehitable, March 4, 1746, married Benjamin Gorham, Jr.,<br />

(called Young Fiddler) a. man <strong>of</strong> more wit than sound judgment<br />

2, William, born Jan. 18, 1748, was clerk in the store <strong>of</strong> his uncle<br />

Solomon in Boston, and died unmarried at the age <strong>of</strong> 24, <strong>of</strong><br />

yellow fever; 3, Catharine, born April 29, 1761, married Stephen<br />

Hall <strong>of</strong> Sandwich; 4, Elizabeth, born April 13, 1755, married<br />

Eleazer Cobb, Sen'r, and inherited half <strong>of</strong> her father's house<br />

Jesse, who died aged 2 years.<br />

(36-8) Josiah Davis, son <strong>of</strong> Capt. John, born Feb. 19, 1722.<br />

Of this Josiah Davis I have no certain information.<br />

(40-1) Ebenezer, son <strong>of</strong> the 2d Josiah, born 19th June, 1713.<br />

(42'-3) Josiah Davis, son <strong>of</strong> 2d Josiah, born Aug. 2, 1718,<br />

married, in 1745, Thankful Matthews ; and May 3, 1760, Thankful<br />

Gorham. He resided in the house which was his father's, and sold<br />

the same, on his removal to Gorham, to the late Mr. James<br />

Davis. He had Josiah and Thankful baptized June 6, 1756;<br />

Mary, Sept. 3, 1759 ; Josiah, Oct. 11, 1761, and three children<br />

born in Gorham, in 1773, 1776 and 1780.<br />

(49-1) Prince Davis, son <strong>of</strong> Stephen, Jr., born Nov. 17,<br />

1724, was a house carpenter. He resided in <strong>Barnstable</strong> till 1760, ,<br />

when he removed<br />

to Gorham, Maine, <strong>of</strong> which town he was a<br />

right <strong>of</strong> his grandfather Josiah, who was a<br />

soldier in the Company <strong>of</strong> Capt. John Gorham in King Phillip's<br />

war in 1675. Mr. Prince Davis early joined the East Church in<br />

Bai'nstable, and continued to be a church member after his removal<br />

east. At Gorham his name appears as one <strong>of</strong> the selectmen, and<br />

in church affairs he was a prominent man. He was married by<br />

Rev. Mr. Green, Feb. 17, 1749-50, to Sarah Coleman, daughter <strong>of</strong><br />

James, <strong>of</strong> <strong>Barnstable</strong>. The births <strong>of</strong> his children are not on the<br />

town records. He died in Gorham in 1809, aged 85 years, and<br />

born in <strong>Barnstable</strong>, four<br />

his wife in 1804. He had five .<br />
