85. X. Benjamin, born July, 1711, married 1738, Abigail,<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> John Jenkins <strong>of</strong> Falmouth. He married in<br />

1747, Bathsheba, daughter <strong>of</strong> Dea. Joseph Hall <strong>of</strong> Yarmouth.<br />

He probably married for his 3d wife in 1759 Annie<br />

Handy <strong>of</strong> Sandwich. He had seven children born in <strong>Barnstable</strong>,<br />

all <strong>of</strong> whom, excepting Josiah, were baptized at the West<br />

Church. 1, Joseph, April 15, 1748 ; 2, Benjamin, Sept. 17,<br />

1749 ; 3, Timothy, Oct. 3, 1751 ; 4, Abigail, Nov. 91, 1753 ; 5,<br />

Bathsheba, Nov. 11, 1755; 6, Peter, Jan. 11, 1758; 7,<br />

Josiah, April 17, 1760.<br />

86. XI. Eebecea, , married Eben Jones, March 20, 1 740.<br />

87. XII. Rachell, . married Joseph Howland, Jan. 18,<br />

1738-9.<br />

88. XIII. David, , called junior to distinguish him from<br />

David Crocker, Esq., son <strong>of</strong> Job, married Dorcas Davis <strong>of</strong><br />

Falmouth, 1741, had 1, Anna, born Dec. 24,1742; 2,<br />

Rachel, 1744 ; 3, Samuel, Feb. 1747.<br />

89. XIV. Sarah, , married Joshua Backhouse <strong>of</strong> Sandwich,<br />

Nov. 7, 1734.<br />

90. XV. Tabitha, baptized Aug. 21, 1721, married Timothy<br />

Davis <strong>of</strong> Falmouth, Feb. 7, 1760.<br />

(81. VI.) Cornelius Crocker, son <strong>of</strong> Samuel, was bound,<br />

when young, as an apprentice to a tailor, and afterwards had a<br />

shop <strong>of</strong> his own, and worked at the business many years. He<br />

had a club-foot, was lame and unable to attend to business which<br />

required much physical effort and active exertion. He married,<br />

Nov. 9, 1727, Lydia, daughter <strong>of</strong> Joseph Jenkins. He resided<br />

in the East Parish, built in 1741 the high single house near the<br />

Agricultural Hall, afterwards owned by Ebenezer Taylor. He<br />

bought the ancient grist mill on Mill Creek, which he rebuilt. He<br />

afterwards owned the farm on the west <strong>of</strong> Rendevons lane, which<br />

was originally Thomas Lothrop's home lot, and that part <strong>of</strong><br />

Joseph Lothrop's which was on that side <strong>of</strong> the lane, together<br />

with the ancient gambrel ro<strong>of</strong>ed house which according to tradition,<br />

belonged to the Glovers. He also owned the wharf known<br />

as Crocker's Wharf, and a fish house near the same. He resided<br />

for a time in the gambrel ro<strong>of</strong>ed house, afterwards owned and<br />

occupied by his son Samuel. He also bought the estate known <strong>of</strong><br />

late years as "Lydia Sturgis's tavern," where he kept a public<br />

house many years. He owned other real estate, and was one <strong>of</strong><br />

the most wealth v men <strong>of</strong> his time in the East Parish. His house
