Claghorn's instead <strong>of</strong> Lumtaert's pond. This estate he sold to a<br />

Crocker, and it afterwards was bought by the Lothrops. Respecting<br />

Robert Claghorn I have little information. He appears to<br />

have been a very worthy man.<br />

Children <strong>of</strong> Robert Clagliorv.<br />

I. Abia, born Aug. 13, 1702. She did not marry, was admitted<br />

a member <strong>of</strong> the East Church Nov. 3, 1745, and died Feb.<br />

4, 1763.<br />

II. Joseph, born Aug. 25,' 1704.<br />

III. Nathaniel, born Nov. 10, 1707.<br />

IV. Samuel, June 23, 1709. In the division <strong>of</strong> his father's es-<br />

tate, the lands bought <strong>of</strong> the heirs <strong>of</strong> Joseph Davis at<br />

Chequaquet were set <strong>of</strong>f to him. He married September 11,<br />

1742, Hannah, probably daughter <strong>of</strong> .Job Hinckley, and had<br />

a son Nathaniel, April 29, 1743.<br />

Shubael Claghorn, a son <strong>of</strong> James, married Jane, daughter<br />

<strong>of</strong> .John Lovell. He died before 1729, when his widow married<br />

John Bumpas <strong>of</strong> Rochester.<br />

Children born in <strong>Barnstable</strong>.<br />

I. James, August 1689. By his wife Experience he had, at<br />

Rochester, Lemual June 10, 1713, and Mary April 12, 1715.<br />

He afterwards, in 1736, married Elizabeth King <strong>of</strong> Kingston.<br />

His wife died in <strong>Barnstable</strong>, Dec. 25, 1774, aged 66.<br />

II. Thankful, 30th January, 1660-1, died January, 1696.<br />

III. Thomas, 20th March 1692-3. A Thomas Claghorn <strong>of</strong> Edgartown<br />

had a daughter Hannah baptized at the West<br />

Church July 17, 1756.<br />

IV. Shubael, 26th September, 1696.<br />

V. Robert, 18th July, 1699. He married January 16, 1722-3<br />

Thankful Coleman. He died July 11, 1750, aged 50, and<br />

his widow April 1770, aged 70. He had : 1, James, Dec. 8,<br />

1723, married 1747, Temperance Gorham, removed to Salisbury,<br />

returned in 1770; 2, Nehemiah, Jan. 30, 1725-6;<br />

3, Eunice, May 4, 1728 ; 4, Benjamin, Dec. 17, 1733 ; 5,<br />

Jabez, May 9, 1736, married Nov. 10, 1780, Eunice Davis,<br />

died June 10, 1821, aged 85.<br />

VI. Benjamin, 14th June, 1701.<br />

VII. Reuben, baptized 28th April, 1706, married 1733, Eleanor<br />
