III. Patience, 12tli Jan'y, 1668, married 1694, Jame^ Coleman,<br />

and had eight children. She married 1,0th Sept. 1715,<br />

Thomas Lombard <strong>of</strong> <strong>Barnstable</strong>. She died March 30,<br />

174:7, aged 79 years. Her second husband w.a8 95 at his<br />

death May 30, 1761.<br />

IV. Hannah, 28th March 1671, married Joseph Davis March<br />

1695, and died May 3, 1739, aged 68. She left a family<br />

<strong>of</strong> eight children.<br />

VI. G-ershom, 4th August, 1675. (See account below.)<br />

VII. John, 20th Dec. 1677, Mr. John Cobb as he is called on<br />

the records, married 25th Dec. 1707, Hannah Lothrop.<br />

He owned the house now the residence <strong>of</strong> Mr. David<br />

Bursley, and his son Ephraim resided there within the<br />

memory <strong>of</strong> persons now living. His children were Ephraim,<br />

born 5th Dec. 1708. He married Margaret G-ardner <strong>of</strong><br />

Yarmouth, Jan'y 7, 1729-30. He had also John born 1st<br />

July, 1711, died March 1, 1713, and John again born Oct.<br />

2, 1719, who died May 25, 1736. Mr. John Cobb died<br />

Aug. 24, 1754, aged 77 years, aind his wife Hannah April<br />

3, 1747, aged 66 years.<br />

VIII. EUzabeth, 6th Oct. 1680.<br />

IX. Martha 6th Feb. 1682.<br />

X. Mercy, 9th April, 1685.<br />

XI. Thankful, 10th June, 1687.<br />

The fpm- daughters last named had shares in the estate <strong>of</strong><br />

their father at the settlement made in 1696. Their mother married<br />

in 1698, Jonathan Sparrow, Esq., <strong>of</strong> Eastham, and these daughters<br />

probably removed to that town with her. Mercy was May<br />

24, 1701, a witness to the will <strong>of</strong> Mu-iam Wing <strong>of</strong> Harwich. At<br />

the pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> the will Jan'y 8, 1702-3, she is called "now Mercy<br />

Sparrow."<br />

Samuel Cobb, son <strong>of</strong> Elder Henry Cobb, born in <strong>Barnstable</strong><br />

12th Oct. 1654, was a farmer and resided in the lower part <strong>of</strong> the<br />

town, and built a house on the six acre lot that was his father's in<br />

the new commonfleld. His first house stood on the south-east<br />

corner <strong>of</strong> the land, on the west side <strong>of</strong> the lane leading to Indian<br />

lands. He soon after built a two story house, a little farther west<br />

on the same spot where the late farmer Joseph Cobb's house stood.<br />

It was two stories and constructed in the style common in those<br />

days. It was taken down about the year 1805. He married Dec.<br />

20, 1680 Elizabeth, daughter <strong>of</strong> Richard Taylor, called "tailor"<br />

to distinguish him from another <strong>of</strong> the same name. He died Dec.<br />

27, 1727 aged 73, and his wife May 4, 1721 aged 66.<br />

Children horn in <strong>Barnstable</strong>.<br />
