Caleii CocswEl.l. was the only surviv<strong>in</strong>g child at his father's decease, 174S. It is said<br />

that he was for some years "distracted " and had a guardian. He lived <strong>in</strong> the northern part<br />

of Littleton, on the road lead<strong>in</strong>g to Forge Village, <strong>in</strong> Westford, near the boundary of the<br />

town. <strong>The</strong>re was another Cogswell family at a little distance, with<strong>in</strong> the limits of Westford.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re is mentioned a Caleb Cogswell at the siege of Louisburg. <strong>in</strong> the journal of Kenja-<br />
