years, <strong>in</strong> Inkster, Mich., where Mrs. Cogswell, at the age of n<strong>in</strong>ety-three years,<br />

was liv<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>in</strong> 1.S.S3, with her son, Samuel Cogswell. Mr. Cogswell had a brother,<br />

Harry or Henry Cogswell, and two sisters, Happy and Hannah Cogswell. <strong>The</strong>re<br />

were two children : John, b. Feb. 4, 181S; m. (let. 28, 1852, .\fary F. Gay.<br />

who resided <strong>in</strong> Inkster, Mich.<br />

John Cogswell. He appears among the New Haven Planters <strong>in</strong> 163S, and one<br />

of the number who organized the First Church of that Colony.<br />

John Gould Cogswell. He was a son of George and Sarah (Alby) Cogswell,<br />

born June 14, 1827, <strong>in</strong> Munroe, Conn., and married Dec 25, 1851, Abigail Jennette<br />

Morehouse, daughter of William and Folly Morehouse, born Oct. 30, 1825, <strong>in</strong><br />

Brookfield, Conn., where they resided. Mr. Cogswell was a hatter. <strong>The</strong>re were<br />

four children: Willia.m Henry, b. Nov. 6, 1852; d. Nov. 8, 1852. Mary Amella<br />

J., b. June 10, 1S54; d Dec. 28, 1S64. William Stanley, b. .Aug. 23, 1856. He<br />

resided, <strong>in</strong> 1884. <strong>in</strong> Danbury, Conn. Orr<strong>in</strong> Francis, b. Jan. i, 1S5;.<br />

Jonathan Cogswell. He was born Oct. 31, 1743: married, Jan 3. 1771.<br />

Ridh Weir,, of P'almouth, Me. Tliey resided <strong>in</strong> Boston, Mass. Mr. Cogswell<br />

followed the seas. He died <strong>in</strong> 17S3, and his will was proved -Aug. 19, 17S3, <strong>in</strong> which<br />

there was no mention of children, and his property was all given to his wife, Ruth<br />

Cogswell, Executrix.<br />

L. Cogswell. He was a private <strong>in</strong> Company M, Sixth Regiment New ^ ork<br />

Artillery; was taken by the Rebels, impri.soned <strong>in</strong> Andersonville, C.a , and died jul\'<br />

24. 1864. His grave was marked \o. 3715.<br />
