born Dec. i8, 1852, <strong>in</strong> Halifax, N. S. She married, July 7, 1881, Capt.<br />

Frederick Ross Boardnian, R. N., son of Frederick and Charlotte Board-<br />

man. He was born June 28, 1843, <strong>in</strong> Everton, Lancashire, England.<br />

<strong>The</strong>y resided <strong>in</strong> London, England.<br />

Sarah A Parker, daughter of Col. Oliver and Sarah A. Parker. She<br />

was born Oct. 10, 1830, <strong>in</strong> Bangor, Me. <strong>The</strong>y resided <strong>in</strong> Halifa.\ and<br />

<strong>in</strong> Dartmouth, N. S.<br />

Alfred Chipman Cogswell entered Acadia College, Wolfeville. N. S.,<br />

at tlie age of fifteen years, but after two years he was compelled to abandon<br />

study on account of ill health. 'I'iie ne.xt tliree years were spent with great<br />

benefit on his father's farm <strong>in</strong> the suburbs of Portland, Me. He then entered<br />

upon the study of dendstry <strong>in</strong> the office of Dr. Edw<strong>in</strong> Parsons of that city.<br />

After four years of study and practice <strong>in</strong> Portland, Me., and Boston, Mass..<br />

Dr. Cogswell opened an office <strong>in</strong> Wakefield. Mass. He soon acquired a higli<br />

stand<strong>in</strong>g and a reputation for skill <strong>in</strong> his profession. Dr. Cogswell was mar-<br />
