born Dec. i8, 1852, in Halifax, N. S. She married, July 7, 1881, Capt.
Frederick Ross Boardnian, R. N., son of Frederick and Charlotte Board-
man. He was born June 28, 1843, in Everton, Lancashire, England.
They resided in London, England.

in Upper Dyke Village, Cornwallis, N. S. He married, Oct. 8, 185S,
Sarah A Parker, daughter of Col. Oliver and Sarah A. Parker. She
was born Oct. 10, 1830, in Bangor, Me. They resided in Halifa.\ and
in Dartmouth, N. S.

Alfred Chipman Cogswell entered Acadia College, Wolfeville. N. S.,
at tlie age of fifteen years, but after two years he was compelled to abandon
study on account of ill health. 'I'iie ne.xt tliree years were spent with great
benefit on his father's farm in the suburbs of Portland, Me. He then entered
upon the study of dendstry in the office of Dr. Edwin Parsons of that city.
After four years of study and practice in Portland, Me., and Boston, Mass..
Dr. Cogswell opened an office in Wakefield. Mass. He soon acquired a higli
standing and a reputation for skill in his profession. Dr. Cogswell was mar-
