He married, Sept. 17, 1868, Mary hnogctie Strong, daughter of Tilling-
hast Bentley and Sarah Ann (Pettee) Strong. She was born May 4,
1847, in Ashley Falls, Mass.

(Smith) Cogswell, was born Aug. 4, 18 18, in Sandgate, Vt. She married,
Jan. 14, 1 841, ^Samuel Thomas, M. D., son of Samuel and Miriam
(Sherman) Thomas. He was born May 15, 1807, in Sandgate, Vt.
They lived in Arlington, and afterward in South Shaftsbury, Vt.
Dr. Thomas died Aug. 14, 184S. Mrs. Thomas married, March 12,
'^57. ^yohn T. Wolfe. They resided in La Harpe, 111. There were no
children of the second marriage.
