JoHN^ Cogswell, {WiUiavfi, JoJui''), son of William^ 13 1 and Susannah<br />

(Hawkes) Cogswell, was born May 12, 1665, <strong>in</strong> Chebacco, Ipswich,<br />

Mass. He -married Hannah Goodl<strong>in</strong>c, daughter of Dea. William, Jr.,<br />

and Hannah (Dane) Goodhue. She was born July 4, 1673, <strong>in</strong> Che-<br />

bacco, Ipswich, Mass., where they resided. Lieut. Cogswell died 1710.<br />

Mrs. Hannah Cogswell, nee Goodhue, married, 1713, ^Lieut. Tlwuias<br />

Perlcy, son of John and Mary (Hewlett) Perley. He was born 1669, <strong>in</strong><br />

Boxford, Mass., where they resided. Lieut. Thomas Perley died Oct.<br />

24, 17 o. Mrs. Hannah Perley died Dec. 25, 1742.<br />

Mis. HitHuah Ci'x.t'.'cU married Lieut. Thoma.s I'erley, of Boxford, Mass. He was a<br />

widower with children. His tir.-it wife was .Mrs. .Abigail I'eabody, nh- Towne, daughter of<br />

Edmund Towne, Esq., and widow of Jacob l'cal)ody. of To])sfield, JIass. <strong>The</strong>y were married<br />

Jan. 12, 16S6. <strong>The</strong>y lived <strong>in</strong> Topsfield, where Mrs. .-Abigail I'erley died, Feb. 14, 1712.<br />

Lieut. Thomas Perley was a lead<strong>in</strong>g <strong>citizen</strong> both <strong>in</strong> lio.xford and <strong>in</strong> Topsfield, hold<strong>in</strong>g<br />

various offices of moderator, selectman, and representative to the General Court. He was a<br />

member of the Congregational Church. His occupation was farm<strong>in</strong>g. He left an estate of<br />

£-z.,. His widow, Mrs. Hannah I'erley. survived him al>out two years.<br />
