<strong>The</strong> first wife of Simon Tiittle was Joan Burnhani, daughter of Thomas liurnham. <strong>The</strong>y<br />

had one son, John, who married, Dec. 3, 16S9, Martha Ward. He died Feb. 26, 1716.<br />

Simon Tuftle had a sister Mary, who married Thomas Burnham. Mr. and Mrs. Burnham<br />

had twelve children, one of whom was James Burnham, who is said to have married a daughter<br />

of Dea. William Cogswell.<br />

John Tuttlc,Vi\\o married Martha W'ard, had several children; Martha, b. 1690; Mary,<br />

b. 1696; Susanna, William, John, and perhaps others.<br />

Simon Tutt!e,yr., married Mary Rogers, daughter of Samuel, and granddaughter of Rev.<br />

XaJbanie! Rogers. <strong>The</strong>y had children: Sarah, b. Oct. 11, 1697; Margaret, b. Oct. 24, 1699;<br />

Elizabeth, b. Sept. 26, 1700; Nath.->niel, Lucy, Simon, 3d, Samuel, who married Martha Shattuck,<br />

daughter of Rev. Benjam<strong>in</strong> Shattuek, the l<strong>in</strong>-^t m<strong>in</strong>i.ster of Littleton, Mass. This Samuel<br />

and Martha (Shattuck) Tuttle had n<strong>in</strong>e children, of whom the three sons, Samuel, Sampson,<br />

and William, had forty-eight children.<br />

Elizahc-lh Tuttle married Capt. Samuel Ayer, son of Robert Ayer, of Haverhill, selectman,<br />

and deacon of the church. He was killed by the Indians, Aug. 29. 170S. <strong>The</strong>ir children were<br />

Obadiah; he graduated at Harvard, 1710; John, James, and perhajis others. Ayer's Cherry<br />

Pectoral is doubtless a descendant.<br />

Abigail Tuttle married Philemon Warner, son of Daniel and Sarah (Dane) Warner. He<br />

was born Aug. i, 1675, '" Ipswich. He died May 6, 1S41. His mother was a daughter of<br />

John Dane, Esq.<br />

Xat/umicl Tiitth; perhaps a son of Simon, Jr., married, 1760, Ruth^ Cogswell [170], of<br />

Littleton, Mass.
