JoJui^), son of Solomon^' [510i and Sarah (Cowles) Cogswell, was bom<br />

July 24, 1789, <strong>in</strong> Hancock, Mass. He married, Oct. 3, 1S16, Samautha<br />

Pcttit, daughter of Dr. James and Lucy (Felt) Pettit. She was born<br />

June 17, 179S. <strong>The</strong>y resided <strong>in</strong> Manlius and VVatervliet. N. Y., and <strong>in</strong><br />

Lyme and Sandusky, Ohio. Mr. Cogswell died Sept. 25, 1S34. Mrs.<br />

Cogswell died March, 1871, <strong>in</strong> Ibltimore, Md.<br />
