S^MVEI. WAR! Fisher, the youngest *on of Kev. Dr. Samuel and Alice (Cogswell)<br />

Fisher, was born <strong>in</strong> Morristown, N. J. He graduated <strong>in</strong> 1835 from Yale College, and <strong>in</strong><br />

1839 from Union <strong>The</strong>ological Sem<strong>in</strong>ary, New Vork. He was <strong>in</strong>stalled, April 18, 1S39, Pastor<br />

of the Presbyterian Church <strong>in</strong> West Ploomtield, N. J. After a useful m<strong>in</strong>istry of four years,<br />

he was settled, Oct. 13, 1874, <strong>in</strong> Albany, N. Y., over the Fourth Presbyterian Ch<strong>in</strong>ch <strong>in</strong> that<br />

city; and <strong>in</strong> 1S4- he became the Pastor of the Second Presbyterian Church <strong>in</strong> C<strong>in</strong>c<strong>in</strong>nati,<br />

Ohio, as the successor of Rev. Dr. Lyman Beecher. Ten years later, Julv 6. 1S5S, Rev. Dr.<br />

Fisher was elected the President of Hamilton College, Xew York. He cont<strong>in</strong>ued <strong>in</strong> the<br />

office about ten years, and then returned to the work of the Gospel m<strong>in</strong>istry. He was settled<br />

<strong>in</strong> I'tica, Nov. 15, 1S67, but resigned Jan. 13, 1S71. Three years later he died, Jan. iS, 1874.<br />

Kev. Dr. Fisher was twice married. <strong>The</strong>re were no children of the first marriage. He<br />

married foi his second wife the daughter of Peter Jackson. She was born June 14, 1S15.<br />

Dr. Cogswell died Jan. 5, 1832.<br />
