IMav 23, 1754, <strong>in</strong> Canterbury, Conn. He married, 1784, Marv Backus.<br />

daughter of Major Ebenezer and Mercy (Fid wards) Backus. She was<br />

born March 18, 1767, <strong>in</strong> W<strong>in</strong>dham, Conn. <strong>The</strong>y resided <strong>in</strong> Lans<strong>in</strong>g-<br />

burg, N. Y, Lieut. Cogswell died Aug 29, 1790. She died Nov. 21,<br />

bers of Ihe same class, were room mates throughout the course, and both graduated<br />

<strong>in</strong> 1777. Mr. Cogswell was <strong>in</strong> the .Army of the Revolution, and was
