was collect<strong>in</strong>g genealogical data of the Cogswell I'aniily. which suggested and<br />

<strong>in</strong> the year 1849, largely at Rev. Dr. Cogswell's suggestion, there was held a<br />

Mr>. IfruTH Cor.swKi.L. <strong>in</strong> her eighty-fourth year, still resided <strong>in</strong> the old<br />

homestead <strong>in</strong> .Atk<strong>in</strong>>-on. N. H. 'rhi> gather<strong>in</strong>g of her children, grandchildren,<br />

and great-grandchildren was an occ.ision of deep <strong>in</strong>terest. Re\-. Di'. Cogs-<br />

well, the eldest of her children, made the address, <strong>in</strong> which he recovnited the<br />

family history with congratulatory remarks. .\t that time. 1S49. the aged<br />

mother could reckon eight of her n<strong>in</strong>e children .is liv<strong>in</strong>g. f)f her forty-eight<br />

grandcliildren thirty-seven were liv<strong>in</strong>g, and of her se\enteeii ^reat-grandchil-<br />

dren there were eleven liv<strong>in</strong>g. Rev. Dr. Cogswell died the year succeed-<br />

<strong>in</strong>g this meet<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the old homestead. <strong>The</strong>re is no space here to give even<br />

a general estimate of his life work and character. Numerous tributes have<br />

been paid to his dist<strong>in</strong>guished memory and published elsewhere .As the good<br />

man neared the blessed transition from earth to Heaven, his m<strong>in</strong>d seemed to<br />

be filled wilh raptures <strong>in</strong> view of Christ and the (iospel he had loved to<br />

preach. His last words were those of mo^ l<strong>in</strong>)K> that thou wilt li^u.<br />
