Griswold, a descendant <strong>of</strong> our first Matthew Griswold, on her father's side,<br />

through a brother <strong>of</strong> her husb<strong>and</strong>'s gr<strong>and</strong>father Governor Roger Griswold<br />

(see below), <strong>and</strong>, on her mother's side, through Rev. George Griswold<br />

<strong>of</strong> Giant's Neck (see above). She survives her husb<strong>and</strong> with four<br />

children.<br />

(58) Griswold, niece <strong>of</strong> the New York merchants Nathaniel Lynde <strong>and</strong><br />

George Griswold above mentioned ; settled at Ashtabula, Ohio ; had<br />

died in 1878.<br />

A daughter <strong>of</strong> Roger Wolcott Griswold is Mrs. Joseph Badger<br />

several sons <strong>and</strong> daughters ; <strong>and</strong><br />

(Juliet Elizabeth^) Hall, now <strong>of</strong> Chicago, 111. Her son Roger Griswold'^<br />

Hall married Mary Louise daughter <strong>of</strong> William A. Patrick <strong>of</strong> Rutl<strong>and</strong>,<br />

Vt, a brother <strong>of</strong> the mother <strong>of</strong> Frederick W. Gookin <strong>of</strong> Chicago.<br />

(6.) Eliza Woodbridge,'^ born in 1799 ; who<br />

Boalt <strong>of</strong> Norwalk, Ohio, a lawyer <strong>of</strong> high position ;<br />

married Charles Leicester<br />

had<br />

several sons <strong>and</strong><br />

two daughters; <strong>and</strong> died in 1878. One <strong>of</strong> the sons is John Henry,^<br />

Judge <strong>of</strong> Common Pleas in Nevada, now a lawyer <strong>of</strong> distinction in San<br />

Francisco, Cal. One <strong>of</strong> the daughters, Frances Griszvold Lane,^ is the<br />

wife <strong>of</strong> Jay Osborne Moss, a wealthy financier <strong>of</strong> S<strong>and</strong>usky, Ohio.<br />

(7.) ]\'Iarian,^ born in 1801; who married Thomas Shaw Perkins, a<br />

lawyer, son <strong>of</strong> Judge Elias Perkins <strong>of</strong> New London, Conn.; <strong>and</strong> had<br />

eleven children. A daughter, Cornelia Leonard,^ was the wife <strong>of</strong> David<br />

Hubbard Nevins <strong>of</strong> New York City, late <strong>of</strong> Waterford, Conn. A son,<br />

Roger Griswold,^ was a physician <strong>of</strong> New York, <strong>and</strong> afterwards lived on<br />

a plantation near Camden, S. C, belonging to the family <strong>of</strong> his wife, a<br />

cousin <strong>of</strong> his on the Perkins side. She survives him, without children,<br />

<strong>and</strong> is now living on an ancestral estate <strong>of</strong> her own in South Carolina.<br />
