Conn., as a merchant. Removed <strong>in</strong> 1805 to Providence, R. I., and <strong>in</strong> 1811<br />

to Milledgeville, Ga., where, soon afterwards, his wife died. When or where<br />

he died is unknown. One report is that he was lost at sea, on a voyage to<br />

Havana, Cuba; ano<strong>the</strong>r; that he went to Florida and was never heard <strong>of</strong>.<br />

John <strong>Olmsted</strong> was a pensioner <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Revolutionary War. In 1769, he<br />

was enrolled a member- <strong>of</strong> a Light Horse Co., <strong>the</strong>n commanded by Capt.<br />

Samuel Gates, but at <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> fight at Lex<strong>in</strong>gton, Mass., April 19, 1775,
