Corps, dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> Civil War. He was under Gen. A. J. Smith for two years<br />

wounded; was <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Red River campaign—<strong>the</strong> Pr<strong>in</strong>ce raid—at <strong>the</strong> capture <strong>of</strong><br />

Mobile, etc. ; after <strong>the</strong> war served <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Texas Rangers on <strong>the</strong> frontier <strong>of</strong> that<br />

State, aga<strong>in</strong>st <strong>the</strong> Indians.<br />

to Geneseo <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> fall <strong>of</strong> 1853; entered <strong>the</strong> dry goods store <strong>of</strong> Turner, Bishop<br />

& Co., and was with <strong>the</strong>m until Feb. 24, 1858, when he was appo<strong>in</strong>ted Teller<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Genesee Valley Bank (afterwards <strong>the</strong> Genesee Valley National Bank)<br />
