10, 1731; d. Mar., 1809; m. May 6, 1764, at Norfield, Conn., AbigaU Lyon;<br />

b. abt. 1742; d. Mar., 1809. He resided <strong>in</strong> Easton, Conn.; served <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Revolutionary<br />

War as Ensign, <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> 4th Regt., Col. Samuel Whitney, <strong>in</strong> Fairfield<br />

and Stratford, Conn.; enlisted Mar. 23 and was discharged Apr. 22, 1777;<br />

was taken prisoner by <strong>the</strong> British <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> raid on Fairfield and Danbury,<br />

Conn.; taken to New York, and kept for some time on <strong>the</strong> old Prison Ship,<br />

and suffered great hardships. He d. <strong>in</strong> Easton, Conn.<br />

Will or Elijah <strong>Olmsted</strong><br />

I, Elijah <strong>Olmsted</strong>, <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> town <strong>of</strong> Galway, be<strong>in</strong>g weak <strong>in</strong> body, but sound <strong>in</strong><br />

m<strong>in</strong>d and memory, blessed be Almighty God for <strong>the</strong> same, do make and<br />

publish my last wUl and testament <strong>in</strong> manner follow<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

First, I will to my son, Obadiah <strong>Olmsted</strong>, all my real property and my wagon<br />

and brass kettle, book accounts, and to settle and pay all my just debts,<br />

and expense <strong>of</strong> my sickness and funeral charges, and after all my just<br />

debts and expenses are paid, <strong>the</strong> one half <strong>of</strong> that shall be left to be equally<br />

divided betwixt my two sons Elijah <strong>Olmsted</strong> and Eliphalet <strong>Olmsted</strong>.<br />

I will to my son Elijah, half a ton <strong>of</strong> hay, and to my son Eliphalet one <strong>of</strong> my<br />

beds. My rema<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g household furniture and cloth<strong>in</strong>g and bedd<strong>in</strong>g I<br />

give to my daughters Sarah, and Eleanor and Thyrza (Theresa?), my<br />

daughter-<strong>in</strong>-law Molly, and my daughter M<strong>in</strong>dwell, and Eleanor and<br />

Thirza and Jesse, my sons and daughters.<br />

I do hereby appo<strong>in</strong>t my son Obadiah <strong>Olmsted</strong>, sole executor <strong>of</strong> my last will,<br />

revok<strong>in</strong>g aU former wills by me made.<br />

In witness where<strong>of</strong> I have set my hand and seal this eighteenth day <strong>of</strong> September,<br />

one thousand eight hundred and twenty-two.<br />
