Robert Small (transient), sometime <strong>of</strong> Norwalk, Conn. It is said that he<br />

died and she married aga<strong>in</strong> and had two children, viz. : a son, Gardner and a<br />

daughter.<br />

(3965) DANIEL OLMSTED, b. 1682; m. May 9, 1711, Hannah Ketchum,<br />

<strong>of</strong> Norwalk, Conn. He with his bro<strong>the</strong>r Richard and twenty-two o<strong>the</strong>rs bought,<br />

with <strong>the</strong> permission <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> General Assembly at Hartford, on <strong>the</strong> 30th <strong>of</strong> Sept.,<br />

1708, <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Indian, Sachem Catoonah, and his associates, for £100, a tract <strong>of</strong><br />

land (2000 acres), now Ridgefield, Conn.<br />

The land was divided <strong>in</strong>to home lots <strong>of</strong> 21-2 acres each, and also 5 acres<br />

<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> rear <strong>of</strong> each home were added to each lot.<br />

These lots were distributed,by a lottery; Daniel's lot was No. 24; Richard's,<br />

No. 11; Daniel was for many years an <strong>in</strong>fluential man <strong>in</strong> town affairs. In<br />

1732 he was confirmed by <strong>the</strong> General Assembly, Ensign <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Ridgefield<br />

Tra<strong>in</strong> Band. He was Representative <strong>in</strong> 1742 and 1743.<br />
