F<strong>in</strong>ally it is my will that all o<strong>the</strong>r my goods not before distributed &<br />

mentioned as disposed <strong>in</strong> this my will; all my chattells, chattel; horse, neat,<br />

sheep, sw<strong>in</strong>e, comonage <strong>of</strong> lands, I say it is my will (all just debts, legacyes,<br />

funerall charges be<strong>in</strong>g first discharged) that all <strong>the</strong> forementioned goods, bee<br />

equally divided betweene my two sons James & John; by <strong>the</strong> help <strong>of</strong> my ouer-<br />

seer: It is also my will & I do hereby constitute & appo<strong>in</strong>t my two sons,<br />

James & John to bee sole & jo<strong>in</strong>t executors & adm<strong>in</strong>istrators <strong>of</strong> this my last<br />

will & testament. And I do will & appo<strong>in</strong>t, ord' & request, my trustee &<br />

beloved friend, Sergeant John Piatt, to bee <strong>the</strong> ouerseer <strong>of</strong> this my will, to<br />

advise accord<strong>in</strong>g to his wisdome, <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> distributions specifyed. And it is my<br />

will that hee should recieue rationall satisfaction from <strong>the</strong> executors & adm<strong>in</strong>istrators<br />

REBECCA OLMSTED (sister <strong>of</strong> Richard and John), m. Thomas Newell,<br />

<strong>of</strong> Farm<strong>in</strong>gton, Conn., (Freeman 1669; d. Sept. 13, 1689). His estate <strong>of</strong> /700<br />

was divided <strong>in</strong> 1689. She came with her uncle, James <strong>Olmsted</strong>, to <strong>America</strong>,<br />

and was a member <strong>of</strong> his <strong>family</strong> until after his death <strong>in</strong> 1640; was enrolled<br />

member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Farm<strong>in</strong>gton Church, July 12, 1663. She was a legatee<br />

<strong>of</strong> Dr. John <strong>Olmsted</strong>'s widow. She died Feb. 24, 1698.<br />

(Dr.) JOHN OLMSTED, Hartford, Conn., (bro<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> Richard and Rebecca).<br />

He came with <strong>the</strong> <strong>family</strong> to <strong>America</strong> <strong>in</strong> 1632, and was doubtless a member <strong>of</strong><br />

his uncle James <strong>Olmsted</strong>'s <strong>family</strong> at Newtown, Mass., and at Hartford, Conn.<br />

Removed soon to Saybrook, Conn., <strong>the</strong>nce <strong>in</strong> 1660 to Norwich, Conn. Was<br />

freeman, 1662; Surgeon <strong>of</strong> part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> forces <strong>in</strong> K<strong>in</strong>g Philip's War; married<br />

Elizabeth; dau. <strong>of</strong> Mat<strong>the</strong>w Marv<strong>in</strong>; was a recipient <strong>of</strong> land by will <strong>of</strong> Joshua<br />

Uncas <strong>in</strong> 1675. His will was probated Sept. 22, 1686; made not long before,<br />

though, he himself only 60 years <strong>of</strong> age, which no doubt was by several years<br />

too small a reckon<strong>in</strong>g. He left most <strong>of</strong> his large estate to his bro<strong>the</strong>r and sis-<br />

ter. No children are mentioned <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> will.
