At San Diego he served as a member ofthe city council for three terms. Came to San Rafael in 1898, and with his brother, Cassius Clay Olmsted^ purchased \h& Journal; represented Marin County as a member ofthe Legislature in 1903 and 1905—two terms; was United States Supervisor of Census for Northern California in 1900.
