He left Newport when a young man and married Margaret<br />

Adams, of Milford, Mass. .V tradition in the family says she<br />

was a cousin of John Adams, the second president. Probably a<br />

few years later thc•^ emigrnted lo Saratoga Co., N. V., and set-<br />

tled in the town of (Jal\va\', and later {\\cy moved to I'ompcw<br />

N. Y., where i\\vy lix-ed the remainder of their hves. He was<br />

in the battle of vSaratoga in 1777, and took an active i)art in the<br />

revoluti()nar^ ^var. He died in I'ompey, l*\'b. 1. 1818, and she<br />
