VIII. Judge William Chiles Carr (2957) born near Charlottsville,<br />

Va,, April 15, 1783. He .went to Lexington, K3^. with<br />

his parents when quite a A'oung man, and in 1804, rode on<br />

horseback from there to St. Louis, Mo., where he lived the<br />

remainder of his life. He built the first brick house in St.<br />

Louis. He married Anne Maria Eliot, Nov. 17, 1807. She was<br />

born Aug. 31, 1788, and died in St. Louis, Aug. 11, 1826. She was<br />

a descendant of the historic John Eliot, the apostle to the In-
