father, to whose business he has succeeded in company with his brother William.
He is a man of influence and reputation in the town; has lona^ been one of the
Selectmen, and for several years the chairman of the board. He is also a promi-
nent member of the Masonic order.
776. HI. Elizabeth Ellen,^ b. in Weymouth, 10 July, 1836; m. 29 Dec, 1858, James Henry,
son of James S. and Elizabeth (Bates), Clapp, b. in Scituate, Mass., 9 Mch.,
183 1 ; he was a boot and shoe manufacturer of Weymouth, and a prominent
member of the Masonic order. He died 27 Mch., 1882, leaving a handsome
property that he had accumulated in his business. Children:

7S0. David' Humphrey, [561] {WHUam,*' James,^ James,^ James,^ Jotias,- Jonas') was
born in Weymouth, Mass., 12 Jan., 1806; at the age of nineteen, removed to Boston, where he
engaged in the grocery business; afterwards became a wholesale flour trader, but later retired from
business and resided in Cambridge, Mass.; was one of the oldest members of the Commercial
Exchange, in Boston. He died 22 Jan., 1885, aged 79 years. He married 15 Nov., 1837,
Margaret, daughter of Nathan and Annie Livermore (Mason), Fiske, born in Cambridgeport,
I Apr., 1815.

Elder James,^ Junas^ ) was born 12 Feb., 1832. He married (i) Mary (dau. of Ira) King, of Hard-
wick, Vt. She died in Dec, 1S66. He married (2) in Feb., 1868, Emily Taylor, of Ludlow, Vt.
Mr. Humphrey lived, until 1882, on part of the land left by the father. He has always
been a farmer. Res. (1883) North Springfield, Vt.
