was born in Weymouth, Mass., 28 Aug., 1781. He was for those days an e.xtensive shoe-manu-
facturer; also kept a grocery and country store; an upright, honest man, a valued member of the
Christian Church, and thoroughly esteemed by all who knew him. He was also much interested
in military affairs, and rose to the rank of Colonel, by which title he was familiarly known. He
died 17 June, 1861, in his 8oih year. He married 5 Nov., 1809, Betsey, daughter of Benjamin
and Betsey (Dyer), Pratt, born in Weymouth, 21 Oct., 17S8, and died 6 Feb., 1S81, a,\ 92 years.
