Ruth' {<strong>John</strong>,^ 3Iat<strong>the</strong>w,^ <strong>John</strong>'^, b. March 19, 1752; m.<br />

Jan. 6, 1774, Seth Stanley, born March 18, 1751, died May<br />

5, 1823, aged 72, at Stame^ v^orners, N. Y., son <strong>of</strong> Deacon<br />

Noah and Ruth (Norton) Stanley. He built <strong>the</strong> house in<br />

Stanley Quarter, New Britain, which burned down while<br />

owned by Martin Brown, in 1860. Here <strong>the</strong>y lived until<br />

<strong>the</strong>y removed in 1795 to Ontario Co., N. Y. She died Sept.<br />

18, 1796, aged 44, and is buried in C.anandaigua, N. Y.<br />

Children :<br />

i. Asa, b. Nov. 21, 1774 ; m. Tirza Hayden ; d. Oct. 24,<br />

1851, at Akron, Ohio, where he was a merchant and<br />

farmer.<br />

ii. Cruger, b. Nov. 19, 1775; m. Sally Reed, born April<br />

4, 1783: died April 14, 1858, daughter <strong>of</strong> <strong>John</strong> and<br />

Irene (Parish) Reed. Cruger d. May 8, 1815, at Canandaigua,<br />

N. Y., where he was a farmer.<br />

iii. Erastus, b. Oct. 22, 1776; m. March 18, 1801, Tem-'<br />

perance Smith, born Nov. 27, 1778, and died Feb. 25,<br />

1847, in Phelps, N. Y., daughter <strong>of</strong> Henry and Catharine<br />

(Leonard) Smith. He lived at Canandaigua, N.<br />

Y., where he died Jan. 20, 1836.<br />

iv. Horatio, b. Nov. 24, 1777 ; d. at sea June 29, 1800.<br />

Buried in New Haven, Ct. Was unmarried.<br />

V. Salina, b. Oct. 10, 1779; m. 1st Sally Welch; m. 2d<br />

Lois Whitmore; m. 3d 1844 Rachel Smith, born 1792<br />

at Gloucester, Essex Co., Mass., died 1877 at Geneva,<br />

N. Y., daughter <strong>of</strong> <strong>John</strong> and Betsey Williams. He d.<br />

Jan. 1, 1858, at Geneva, N. Y.<br />

vi. Nancy, b. Jan. 2, 1781; m. <strong>John</strong> McCullough; d.<br />

Feb. 6, 1815.<br />

vii. Katy, b. Jan. 15, 1782; d. March 7, 1811, at Canan-<br />

daigua, N. Y. Was unmarried.
