God <strong>the</strong>refor, calling to mind <strong>the</strong> mortality <strong>of</strong> my body and<br />

knowing that 'tis appointed<br />

unto men once to die do ordain<br />

this my last will and testament, that is to say first and prin-<br />

cipally <strong>of</strong> all I give and recommend my<br />

soul in to <strong>the</strong> hands<br />

<strong>of</strong> God that made it, hoping through <strong>the</strong> deatli and passion<br />

<strong>of</strong> my Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon <strong>of</strong><br />

all my sins and to inherit Eternal Life, and my body I com-<br />

mit it to <strong>the</strong> earth to be decently buried nothing doubting but<br />

at <strong>the</strong> General Resurection <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Just I shall receive <strong>the</strong><br />

same again by <strong>the</strong> almighty power <strong>of</strong> God, and as to such<br />

worldly estate as God has blessed [me] with in tliis life, I<br />

give and dispose <strong>of</strong> tiie same in <strong>the</strong> following manner and<br />

form.— First I will that all those debts and duties as I do owe<br />

in right or conscience to any manner <strong>of</strong> person or persons<br />

shall be well and truly paid in convenient time after my<br />

decease. Imprimis unto my well beloved Ruth <strong>Clark</strong> I give<br />

and bequeath one third part <strong>of</strong> my<br />

Real Estate or estate <strong>of</strong><br />

Housing & lands to be used and improved by her, and she is<br />

to have <strong>the</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>its and effects <strong>the</strong>re<strong>of</strong> during her natural life<br />

and one third part <strong>of</strong> my<br />

moveable estate to be at her own<br />

dispose forever. Item unto my two sons viz:—<strong>John</strong> and<br />

Mat<strong>the</strong>w <strong>Clark</strong> I give and bequeath to <strong>the</strong>m and <strong>the</strong>ir heirs<br />

and assigns forever all my lands both meadow & upland both<br />

divided and undivided in equal proportion between <strong>the</strong>m both<br />

for quantity and quality, also all my 'housing<br />

and barns and<br />

also all my moveable estate <strong>of</strong> what kind or sort forever, that<br />

I shall stand possessed <strong>of</strong> at my death and not legally con-<br />

veyed away in my life time, <strong>the</strong>y or <strong>the</strong>ir heirs paying to my<br />

daughters viz. Mary and Ruth <strong>the</strong> sums hereafter in this my<br />

will given to <strong>the</strong>m. Item unto my two daughters viz. Mary<br />

Smith & Ruth Woodruff I give and bequeatli besides what I
