20 CLARK GENEALOGY. house sold it October 8, 1794, to Romanta Norton, who sold it February 14, 1798, to Shubael Porter. The latter dying February 10,- 1825, devised it to his son Erastus, who died August 8, 1846, giving it in his will to his two sisters, Sukey, wife of Samuel Dickinson, and Anna, wife of John Sweet. The latter and their heirs conveyed it in 1871 to John Riley, who, after using it as a barn for a few years, pulled it down in the summer of 1880. Sergeant John Clark died intestate, and since no children are mentioned in the distribution of his estate, if he ever had any they must have died young. The order for the distribu- tion of his estate was issued April 9, 1712, and is here given in proof of the relationship of the parties therein named. The distribution itself is recorded at great length in the town records of Farmington. " Upon the motion and request of Samuel Woodruff Sen""— of Farmington who married with Rebecca Clark one of the sisters of Serg' John Clark late of said Farmington deceased praying that this Court would make out an order for the dis- tribution and division of the lands and real estate of the said John Clark deceased to and among the bretheren and sisters of the said deceased or their survivors respectively accord- ing to law, which lands and real estate as by the inventory thereof appears to amount to the sum of 162
