Smoking was prohibited in most public places as of 2007, prices of tobacco products were raised in 2003, and New Mexico is the only state in the nation requiring insurance companies to cover costs associated with quitting smoking. Prevention campaigns exist that target youth and American Indian populations. Environmental Consequences Table 97 shows the criteria and definitions specific to human health and safety used to evaluate impacts of the three alternatives. Table 97. Alternative 1 Under the no action alternative, conditions described above under the “Affected Environment” section would continue for the foreseeable future. This alternative is not expected to have any impact on these conditions.
