For MA 5.4, Alternative 1, SS3A, 4B, and 4C would move towards the Forest Objectives
and SS2, 3B and 5 would remain the same, while SS1, 3C and 4A would move away
from the Objectives.
Very Large Sized Trees
Due to MPB caused mortality the No Action alternative would reduce the acres of SS4
with an average tree size of very large within the project area by approximately 67%
from 974 acres to 324 acres (Table 24). This change in acres would not result in a
change to the Forest-wide management area percentages (Table 25). Objectives 4.1-203
and 5.1-204 would continue to be exceeded. Objective 5.4-206 would retain its
percentage, but actually moves away from the objective based on acres.
