Wetlands As defined jointly by the Corps of Engineers (33 CFR 328.3) and Environmental Protection Agency (40 CFR 230.3), wetlands are those areas that are inundated or saturated by surface or ground water at a frequency and duration sufficient to support, and that under normal circumstances do support, a prevalence of vegetation typically adapted for life in saturated soil conditions. Wetlands generally include swamps, marshes, bogs, and similar areas. Wetlands are a subset of the “Waters of the United States” subject to regulation under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act. Wildfire Any wildland fire not designated and managed as a prescribed fire within an approved prescription.
