and national level in fire operations, fuels, timber, prescribed<br />

fire and planning. Current qualifications include: Incident<br />

Effects Monitor, Prescribed Fire Ignition Specialist, Resource<br />

Unit Leader, Situation Unit Leader, Task Force Leader trainee,<br />

Burn Boss Type 2 trainee and Planning Section Chief trainee.<br />

Jamie Wheeler Wildlife Biologist – Bachelor of Science, Biology, St. Norbert<br />

College, DePere, WI, 1999. Master of Science, Wildlife and<br />

Fisheries Science, South Dakota State University, Brookings,<br />

SD, 2007. Worked from 2005-2007 at Wind Cave National<br />

Park as wildlife SCEP (Student Career Experience Program)<br />

student. Five years of Forest Service experience at the district<br />

level as a wildlife biologist.<br />

Steve Hirtzel Fisheries Biologist – Bachelor of Science in Wildlife &<br />

Fisheries Science, South Dakota State University, Brookings,<br />

SD, 1987. Twenty-four years of experience in research,<br />

regulatory and natural resource management programs with<br />

various state and federal agencies, the past ten years on the<br />

Black Hills National Forest.<br />

Les Gonyer Hydrologist – Bachelor of Science, Forestry, minor in<br />

Hydrology, University of Minnesota, 1977. Thirty-five years<br />

of Forest Service experience at the District and Forest levels in<br />

Utah, New Mexico, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, California, and<br />

South Dakota in watershed, timber, special uses, minerals, fire,<br />

engineering, and environmental analysis on the Ashley, Gila,<br />

Umatilla, Caribou, Medicine Bow, Mendocino, and Black Hills<br />

National Forests. Eleven years on the Black Hills National<br />

Forest as South Zone Hydrologist. BAER (Burned Area<br />

Emergency Response) Team Leader experience.<br />

Lucas Bindel Rangeland Management Specialist – Bachelor of Science –<br />

Rangeland Ecology and Watershed Management; Minor-<br />

Reclamation and Restoration Ecology. University of<br />

Wyoming, 2009. Two years of experience as Rangeland<br />

Management Specialist for Forest Service.<br />

Matthew Scott Botanist – Bachelor of Science – Rangeland Ecology and<br />

Watershed Management; Minor, Reclamation and Restoration<br />

Ecology; Extensive coursework in soils and botanical sciences,<br />

2006. Three years of experience fuels, wildland and prescribed<br />

fire management. Four years of experience as a Natural<br />

Resource Specialist for Conservation District focused in<br />

rangeland management, forestry, vegetation monitoring, and<br />

wildlife habitat management. Qualified for OPM 430 Series<br />
