CHAPTER 4: CONSULTATION AND<br />
COORDINATION<br />
The Forest Service consulted the following individuals, Federal, State, and local<br />
agencies, tribes and non-Forest Service persons during the development of this<br />
environmental assessment:<br />
Interdisciplinary Team Members:<br />
Lynn Kolund District Ranger – Bachelor of Science, Forest Biology,<br />
Colorado State University, 1978. Thirty-five years of Forest<br />
Service experience in timber, silviculture, recreation,<br />
wilderness, fire and lands. Worked on seven districts and two<br />
Supervisor’s offices on six National Forests in Wyoming,<br />
Colorado, Alaska and South Dakota.<br />
Kelly Honors District NEPA Coordinator – Bachelor of Science, Forestry,<br />
State University of New York, College of <strong>Environmental</strong><br />
Science and Forestry, 1985. Worked on three National Forests<br />
and a Region 5 progeny site. Twenty six years of Forest<br />
Service experience at the district level in timber and planning;<br />
twenty-three of those years on the Black Hills National Forest<br />
on the Elk Mountain and Hell Canyon Districts. Twenty-three<br />
years of experience in writing NEPA documents.<br />
Kurt Allen Entomologist – USDA Forest Service, Forest Health Protection<br />
– Bachelor of Science, Biology, University of Northern Iowa,<br />
1988. Master of Science, Forestry and Entomology, Iowa<br />
State University, 1992. Service Center leader and<br />
entomologist since 1995. Entomologist, Forest Health<br />
Protection for the Northeastern Area, Durham, NH, from 1992-<br />
1995. Currently conduct applied research and use developing<br />
technologies to find answer to forest management/forest insect<br />
issues. Supervise Forest Health Management staff.<br />
Don Boone Certified Silviculturist – Bachelor of Science, Forest Science,<br />
University of Wisconsin-Madison, 1979. Twenty-eight years<br />
of Forest Service experience as a Forestry Technician, Pre-Sale<br />
Forester, and Silviculturist on the Routt and Black Hills<br />
National Forests. Six years of experience with the South<br />
Dakota Division of Forestry and two years of experience with<br />
Custer State Park, South Dakota.<br />
Gwen Lipp Fire/Fuels Planner – Bachelor of Science, <strong>Environmental</strong><br />
Engineering, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology,<br />
