CHAMPIONSHIP
LINCOLN, NE - Jim Ager Memorial was host to the younger divisions of the Nebraska Jr. PGA
Championship presented by Under Armour and Heritage Food Service Group. This event includes
junior golfers between the ages of 7-12. Twenty four boys and girls from across the state of
Nebraska competed in either the 7-9 division or 10-12 division. The 7-9 divisions played nine holes
while the 10-12 divisions played the nine hole par three course twice.
Luke Kluver, from Grand Island, Nebraska captured the Boys 10-12 division after finishing with a
five over-par 60. Kluver had a sensational first nine holes shooting a one over- par 28. Things were
a lot closer on the second nine as Kluver began to make a few more bogeys and Ryan Van Ostrand,
Lincoln, Nebraska, continued his steady play but fell one shot short finishing at six over-par 61.
Lindsey Thiele from Wahoo, Nebraska finished on top of the Girls 10-12 division after finishing at
18 over-par 72. Thiele paced herself as she matched her first round score of 36 with another 36 in the
second round to win by 16 shots over Gillian Dean, Lincoln, Nebraska.
The Boys 7-9 division was a close race as all four competitors finished within four shots of one
another. Sam Johnson, Lincoln, Nebraska, used a good start to grasp the first place plaque after
finishing at 16 over-par 43. Johnson's 43 was two shots better then Blake Waring, Lincoln, Nebraska,
who finished in second place after carding an 18 over-par 45.
Brynn Sundquist, Lincoln, Nebraska, stole the show in the girls 7-9 division. Sundquist played
steady throughout the round and finished 11 shots clear of second place after she finished with a 12
over-par 39. Taylor Van Ostrand, Lincoln, Nebraska, jumped out of the gates making a par on the
opening hole of the Championship but was not able to match Sundquist's performance and finished in
second place.
