Peter Hagen, PGA
College/University: University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Year Turned Pro: 1996
Facility and Job Title: Sunset Valley Country Club,
PGA Head Golf Professional
What was your motivation to become a PGA Professional?
It pretty much started when I was in my early teenage years. I
basically grew up on a golf course and I loved to play the game and
being around the people associated with it.
What is your specialty in the golf business?
I enjoy teaching juniors and people who are just taking up golf. Seeing
their faces after hitting the perfect shot is priceless.
Please list any accomplishments (Awards, Certifications, and
Tournaments.)
Elected to the PGA in 2005; 2000 Nebraska Section Apprentice Player
of the Year.
What was your greatest moment in golf?
Making my first hole-in-one with my father. I ran up to the green
jumping around and yelling and my father calmly reminded me he still
had to hit.
What or who has had the greatest impact on your career?
My father. I hope to give my children the same opportunities in life
that he gave me.
Besides golf, what else do you enjoy?
Being with my two young daughters. I try to spend every minute of
the day with them as if it was the last. They are my true inspiration.

If you could play any golf course in the world, which one would
it be and who would complete your foursome?
Augusta National with my father, Fred Couples, and Rich Beem.
If you could give lessons to anyone in the world who would it
be and what advice would you give?
Probably my father. He’s a range rat and always working on a different
swing. He’s got more swings than clubs in his bag.
What is your favorite golf instruction tip?
Balance. It’s tough to hit a golf ball consistent if you are always falling
over.
