he Hart Historic Trail is a<br />
Twalking/biking introduction<br />
to the historical buildings in the<br />
city of Hart. The tour begins<br />
at the Hart-Montague Rail<br />
Trail parking lot on Polk Road.<br />
There you will find a map and<br />
display panels explaining the<br />
historical significance of the two<br />
churches, two homes,<br />
a one-room school,<br />
flour mill, John Gurney<br />
Park, a bank and former<br />
factory. Several of these<br />
buildings are located in<br />
the Hart Historic District<br />
located on Union St. The District has numerous<br />
displays and buildings that appeal<br />
to all ages, including a restored log<br />
cabin, animated doll collection, furs,<br />
and an extensive and unique Native<br />
American artifacts collection, a<br />
“must see” for history buffs!<br />
Tours are Wednesdays<br />
thru Saturdays 1 pm –<br />
4 pm or by appointment<br />
made through Hart City<br />
Hall (231-873-2488).<br />
Over Labor Day Weekend,<br />
the district hosts an Annual<br />
Heritage Days Celebration.<br />
with a visit to Randall Schoolhouse,<br />
Schaner Feed Mill, Cobmoosa House,<br />
Heritage Hall, Sackrider Church<br />
and so much more.<br />
Located at 570 E. Lincoln Street, (at Union) near downtown Hart,<br />
the District is home to many unique and education displays &<br />
buildings. Tours available summer months, Wed. thru Sat. 1-4<br />
p.m. or by appointment.<br />
