The fellowship is fully accredited by the ACGME. The goal of the fellowship is to prepare our trainees for a career as an academic surgeon. This fellowship program covers a full complement of pediatric urologic issues with particular attention to the areas of genitourinary reconstructive surgery (including micro-surgical techniques), kidney transplantation, autotesticular transplantation, and fetal urology. The majority of the fellowship related clinical activity takes place at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. The program has one or two dedicated fellows for the duration of two years. The fellowship comprises a clinical year and a research year. The first year of the fellowship program is dedicated to clinical rotations in Pediatric Urology, Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Nephrology, the Bladder Center for Voiding Dysfunction, and the Myelomeningocele Clinic. The fellows also spend time in the various multidisciplinary clinics that exist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. The following year focuses on basic science research related to the genitourinary tract. The fellowship has a strong emphasis on didactics. This fellowship program spans all major aspects of transplantation with specific emphasis in the areas of kidney, pancreas and liver transplantation and hepatobiliary abdominal laparoscopic surgery. We are particularly proud of our pioneering efforts in laparoscopic “living” donor nephrectomy procedures and laparoscopic surgery. Our clinical efforts are conducted at The University Hospital and The Christ Hospital. The Multi-Organ Transplant Fellowship Training Program is approved through the American Society of Transplant Surgeons. The program employs two fellows for a duration of two years. Upon completion of our program, a number of fellows have gone on to successful careers in academic medicine and specialized private practice. 2005-2006 Conferences Transplant Grand Rounds speakers were of national and international stature. We have also developed formal teaching rounds on Thursday afternoons and a Friday conference for the residents, students, and fellows where informal teaching is held.

The fellowship program was granted Continued Full Accreditation for five years, with no citations or recommendations, after the 2004 review by the Residency Review Committee of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
