From Our Pastor’s Desk<br />
For the next few weeks we will have a “tear off” in the bulletin for people who want<br />
Christmas flower memorials for relatives. We ask for a $15.00 donation for flowers and<br />
church decorations for Christmas and throughout the year. Those whose names are<br />
listed and the donor will appear in our flower memorial booklet. Our Christmas Midnight<br />
Mass will be offered for all of those memorialized in the booklet. This is a very<br />
practical way to remember our loved ones and assist them with our prayers at this<br />
Christmas season. Msgr. Dick<br />
Annual Glade Valley Nursing Home Visit<br />
St. Timothy’s annual Christmas visit to Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation<br />
Center (known as Glade Valley Center) is scheduled for Saturday, December 8th ,<br />
from 10: 00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Volunteers are needed to visit each resident, either<br />
individually or in small groups, to wish them a Merry Christmas and hopefully<br />
brighten their day. If you can set aside time for this worthy project, then sign up<br />
using the signup sheets available in the gathering area. Volunteers should arrive<br />
by 9:45 a.m. to sign in and join the group in the activities room. If you have any<br />
questions regarding the visit, contact Susanne by phone ( 301-698-1332) or via<br />

St. Vincent DePaul “Giving Tree ” Project<br />
Our St. Vincent DePaul Conference Christmas Giving Tree Project begins this<br />
weekend. Select one or more tags and return the item(s) to St. Timothy no later<br />
than Sunday, December 9th. Do not gift wrap the items and remember to attach<br />
the tag(s) to the returned item(s).<br />
Donation Request<br />
Donations are needed for a December trip to our sister parish, St.<br />
Jerôme's, where a group led by ( Anne Kerns) will carry out a study of resident<br />
and migratory birds. Your donations will go directly to teachers and students who<br />
will carry on local “citizen science” projects into the future. If you have an outdated<br />
or unused pair of binoculars- any size or quality, even “toy” binoculars…<br />
here’s the perfect reason to unload or upgrade! A box for donations will<br />
be at the church from November 18 – December 9.<br />

The sale of beautiful religious Christmas cards, ornaments and assorted alloccasion<br />
cards will return next weekend (November 24/25) in the gathering area.<br />

certified volunteer. <strong>ST</strong>AND certification is required for all of our employees and<br />
volunteers. Please contact Janet Virtue in the parish office for more information,<br />
call 301-845-8043 ext. 104. Adult Volunteers Review the Code of Conduct for<br />
Church Personnel Statement of Policy for the Protection of Children and Youth.<br />
Then download and sign this document. Complete and submit the Application<br />
for Volunteer Service. All ministers working with minors must comply with<br />
the Archdiocese’s Policy for the Protection of Children and Youth. You must complete<br />
your certification BEFORE you can start ministering. Steps to receive<br />
certification are on our website.<br />
Advent Wreath Sign-up<br />
Sign ups begin this weekend for families to light<br />
our Advent wreath. Please sign-up on the sheets<br />
on the bulletin board in the vestibule, as you enter<br />
Church. Families are also needed as volunteers to<br />
carry banners into the Church at the beginning of<br />
each Mass during Advent.<br />

Steubenville Youth Conference<br />
All incoming freshmen through outgoing seniors are invited to attend the Steubenville<br />
Youth Conference in Ohio this summer. We are shooting for the weekend of July 12-14.<br />
Marissa will be purchasing tickets on January 14. If she doesn’t know that you want to<br />
go by then – it will be too late. With Marissa on maternity leave in the spring she<br />
won’t be able to finagle extra tickets for late comers. So to save your spot simply drop<br />
off a $40 non-refundable deposit with Marissa no later than Sunday night January 13<br />
at the Life Night. (The total cost for the trip will be around $180)<br />

Teens have been invited to assist at the Glade Valley Community Service annual Toy<br />

the others will meet at the Town Hall to begin sorting other Churches donations.<br />
