Not a great start to the new year
A resident of Martin

St. Jacobs reported
a break-and-enter
about 10 p.m. on Jan.
1. Entry was gained
through a garage man
door. It, and the door

been struck with a
heavy object.
The intruder disturbed
only the master
bedroom, making
off with some jewellery,
including a gold
ring with a blue stone
and engraved with
the name “Wilf.” Footprints
were found at
the scene, and the ID
branch made imprints
of the evidence. Police
report they’ve seen
this type of jewelleryspecific
crime several
times in the past six
months. The investigation
continues.

a vehicle abandoned at Floradale
Road and Eighth Line.
The vehicle had apparently
struck a guardrail before it
was left behind. It was traced
to an address in Arthur. The
investigation continues in
conjunction with Wellington
