The future of marriage appears to be on the Internet

A. Finding
true love on the
Internet has
become more
likely than at work or a party, at least
in the U.S. and especially if you’re
over 45, says New Scientist magazine.
That’s according to a Harris Interactive
online survey of more than 10,000
Americans who married in 2006-2007.
“Wanting to get married and not going
online will soon be seen as equivalent
to trying to find an address by driving
around randomly, without using
a map,” says Galen Buckwalter of
eHarmony, a Pasadena, California,
matchmaking company.
By one survey, 19% of couples met
online compared to 17% at work and
17% through friends. For those aged
45-54, this rose to 31%. (Younger people

one of the searchers finds blood on a
stone-crushing machine located near a
large vat of liquid air. Apparently, Digby’s
body, after being dipped and frozen
in the cold liquid, had been pulverized
by the machine and then scattered
before the police closed in. Without a
body or today’s DNA technology, the
police in the case could do nothing but
cringe at their discovery.
Regarding the cat, when Walker was a
student at MIT, the story circulated of a
quarrel between dormitory roommates,
prompting one to sneak into the room
with a dead cat and a large vat of liquid
nitrogen taken from a campus lab.
Holding the cat by the tail, he dipped it
into the liquid, waited for it to freeze,
then hurled it at the wall, shattering
it into myriad pieces that littered his
roommate’s bed and thawed into a horrible
mess.
“I hope the story was fictional -- an
urban myth invented by older students.”
