7th International Symposium on Emerging Technologies for Fluids, Struktures
and Fluid-Structure Internations

Call for Papers
2003 ASME Pressure Vessels and Piping Conference
The symposium takes place for the 7th time since 1997 and has grown to become one
of the biggest symposiums being organized within the ASME Pressure Vessel and
Piping Conference. A total of 60 papers is expected for the 2003 conference and will be
published in two bound volumes. The objective is to show recent advances in emerging
technologies of numerical and analytical methods as well as new experimental
techniques. The symposium is designed for both scientists from Universities and
engineers from Industries. It highlights the methods, not specific fields of engineering,
therefore participants from all mechanical engineering disciplines are welcome. Papers
may deal with industrial problems from the fields of, but not limited to, the following:
Fluid Flow and CFD (e.g. Modeling, Numeric, Turbulence, Multi-Phase Flow,
Burning, Explosion, Shock, Wave Propagation, Acoustics ...)
Structural Mechanics and FEM (e.g. Linear and Non-Linear Structural Analysis,
Dynamics, Modal Analysis, Contact, Impact, Energy Absorption, Crushing, Fracture ...)
Interaction Phenomenon and Coupled Problems (e.g. Fluid- Structure Interaction,
Explosive-Structure Interaction, Structure- Structure Interaction, Fluid-Fluid
Interaction, Thermohydraulics, Thermomechanics, ...)
Materials and Fluids
(e.g. Fatigue, Non-Linear Elastic and Plastic, Non-Newtonian, Damage, Crack Growth,
K and J, Time-Dependency, ...)
Schedule
Submit a 100-word abstract by September 30, 2002 with the contact author’s complete
affiliation, address, telephone, fax numbers and E- mail address. Authors of accepted
papers will be notified by October 14, 2002. Drafts of selected papers are due
December 2, 2002 for review. Paper peer review comments will be returned by
February 3, 2003. Final papers for publication are due March 3, 2003. Abstracts and
papers should be submitted on the web site http:// pvp.dc.kumamoto-u.ac.jp/pvp2003/
