fringes of the Central Business District. On behalf of the applied mathematicians of
Australia and New Zealand, plus our many sponsors who will be strongly featured
throughout the Congress, I extend a warm invitation to visit Australia in 2003. You, and
your accompanying person(s), are invited to participate in a Congress that you will
never forget.
Registration fees
I am grateful to Board members who pointed out the unfortunate psychological
implications of the large "on-site" fee. After discussions with the ICIAM 2003
Treasurer, Dr Summerfield, I have decided to eliminate the "on-site" fee, but to include
a small administrative charge for registrations after 20 June. (The charge is included
because there are definite expenses resulting from the possibility and actuality of very
late registrations).
The following three registration categories will appear forthwith in all our literature. All
figures are in AUD.
Normal Registration Early bird (before 29 November 2002) $583 Regular (before 7
March 2003) $715.
Late $825 (From 21 June 2003, please add an on-site administration charge of $55 to
this amount, giving a total fee of $880).
Student Registration Early bird (before 29 November 2002) $242 Regular (before 7
March 2003) $297
Late $352 (From 21 June 2003, please add an on-site administration charge of $55 to
this amount, giving a total fee of $407).
Fund for delegates from developing countries
As a result of suggestions made in Tokyo, I am including in the online registration form
the possibility of donations to a fund for delegates from developing countries.
Donations received will be added to funds of AUD 50K that we expect to receive from
the Australian Government, and to any other industrial donations for this purpose, and
administered in the same way.
I have attached a new advertisement (in pdf format) for ICIAM 2003. We ask that you
print this advertisement in newsletters or similar publications of your society, and also
display it on your web site if that is convenient.
Advertising card
In Tokyo, I was asked if we can prepare and distribute a hard-copy advertising card for
ICIAM 2003. We sent out approximately 12,000 cards in the March edition of SIAM
News, but have not made a similar largescale distribution in Europe. I am preparing
such a card at the moment, and hope to mail it to European and Asian ICIAM
colleagues in approximately two weeks.
Minisymposia
I would like to repeat Ian Sloan's plea in Tokyo - we need a lot of minisymposia. Please
help us make ICIAM 2003 a success by encouraging your colleagues to organise
minisymposia.
